Gingerbread Glazed Prana Bites

January 19, 2019 by Melissa Singh Leave a Comment

Guys… Since discovering the amazing consistency of the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough balls, I have started making these keto-friendly Prana Bites in all different flavors…

Including this deliciousAF Gingerbread GLAZED recipe.

So freaking good.

Now, this recipe is amazing for a few reasons:

  1. It tastes like a freakin’ gingerbread cookie but it’s way simpler to make
  2. It uses tons of great digestive spices which mitigate the digestive effect of the nut butter.

Technically, Ayurveda isn’t a fan of nut butter. It sticks to our digestive tract and can be hard to digest if we have a weak Agni.

So does that mean we should never eat nut butter?! HELLS TO THE NO!

It means we use spices, digestive teas, and enjoy the SHIT out of that nut butter to make it easier on our digestive system.

Living and Ayurvedic lifestyle isn’t about rigidly adhering to the list of “approved” foods for your Dosha, and avoiding the aggravating foods at all costs.

It’s about balance.

It’s about learning to tune into our body, listen to what it’s asking of us in each moment, and honoring that.

It’s about understanding food combinations that work, and how to mitigate the effects of aggravating foods with spices, and teas, and mindful eating.

These gingerbread Prana Bites embody this idea exactly.

We take almond butter, and we dress it up with spices to improve digestion and BOOM we can have our nut butter and eat it too!

Now, the next best thing about this recipe?

The high protein, sugar-free GLAZE BABY!

WHAAAT?! Ok seriously.. the glaze takes these balls to the next level. I use just a tbsp of PROfi Vanilla Protein and it’s so freakin’ good. You can add a little bit of maple syrup to make it sweeter if you’re into it… but I left it as is.. and it was delish.

If you wanna try out Profi’s protein, you can use my discount code YOGIFUEL at checkout to get 10% and free shipping in Canada – YAHOO!

You’re welcome!

Alright, this recipe is SUPER simple, and I’m so excited for you to try it! As always, if you make this recipe PLEASE let me know! Share it with me over on Instagram or Facebook.

And if you have any requests for ball recipes, HOLLA!

  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup OPTIONAL

Prana Bites
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • pinch ground cloves
  • pinch nutmeg/cardamom OPTIONAL - I did not use these!
  • 1/3 cup coconut flour
High Protein Glaze
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1-2 tbsp PROfi Vegan Vanilla Protein
  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup OPTIONAL
Instructions
  1. Add everything into a bowl, MINUS the coconut flour and stir together.
  2. Once you have a nice mixure, add in the coconut flour bit by bit, stirring it until you have a thick dough that has formed. You want it to be sticky enough to form balls, but not so sticky that the mixture sticks to your hands!
  3. Roll into balls and set in the freezer!
  4. For the glaze, place everything in a bowl and STIR. You'll want to make sure the coconut oil is liquified. Taste, and adjust protein/sugar to taste. This tastes much better when in solid glaze form on your Prana Bites BTW!
  5. After the bites have been int he freezer for about 10 mins, take them out and drizzle the glaze on top. It will harden into an amazing shell on top. Place them back in the freezer or fridge. They will last for about a week... but you will eat them before then!
