Sweet Potato “Tempura” and Avocado maki rolls

January 13, 2017 by Melissa Singh

One of my all time favourite foods is sushi. There is something about those bite sized, delicious little rolls that when dipped in tamari sauce are irresistible to me.

I can remember being in university and going to all you can eat sushi with my best friend and boyfriend at the time, and the three of us ordered enough sushi to literally cover the entire table. I’m not sure how we managed, but we ate it all. I didn’t know then what I know now, and the idea of eating sushi at a restaurant doesn’t make me feel very good.

Fall for simple mung bean soup

January 11, 2017 by Melissa Singh

I love soup. I love everything though… I have this thing where I think everything is the best thing ever, and I often wonder if it devalues my validity when I say I really like something, because in fact, I really like everything?

But I do really like this soup, so in order to determine if it is actually good, or if that’s just me thinking it is, you’ll have to make it, or at least some variation of it.

Best Ever Cinnamon Roll Pancakes with Cardmom infused “Icing”

January 11, 2017 by Melissa Singh

I love cinnamon buns. One time my friend and I travelled all the way downtown (which took nearly an hour) to get vegan gluten free cinnamon buns the day after I had a bad breakup. Cinnamon buns were obviously the only thing that was going to make me feel better.

Everything you need to know about nut and seed milk

January 11, 2017 by Melissa Singh

The other week I was in the grocery store with a client and we were looking at this bag of almonds – I think it was a medium sized bag – maybe 1 or 2 pounds at the most. I looked to see what the prices was – because it was no-name brand I assumed it would be cheap – but it was something astronomical like $30!  I loudly said “THAT’S  NUTS!” and then proceeded to laugh uncontrollably for 5 minutes at how funny my unexpected pun was.

Nom Nom ‘Nola

January 11, 2017 by Melissa Singh

I love cereal.

When I was a kid I could eat 2-3 massive bowls of cereal and not be full… Probably because they were filled with a shit load of added sugar, preservatives, and weird chemical ingredients concocted in some laboratory somewhere rather than real ingredients. And while my awareness of the food industry has changed, my love for cereal has remained the same. The problem is even the health food cereals are full of sugar and wheat/grain products. All of which I am trying to stay away from as much as possible. I haven’t done any fancy schmancy food allergy test with the exception of a whole 30 a couple years back, but I have enough awareness now to know that when I eat them, my stomach hurts. I’m bloated, and gassy – hot right?

Warming Cinnamon-Cardamom Morning Oats

January 11, 2017 by Melissa Singh

People are always raving about overnight oats, and I get it – they are quick and convenient and you can make a bunch at a time if you want – but, they have to be kept in the fridge and typically you eat them cold.

I’m not about that.
